With that said, the Miami Heat's D-League affiliates, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, has many former players currently in the NBA as of the '09 training camp inception. A total of eight former Skyforce members are now either on or competing for a team in the league. They include:
- Vincent Grier (Washington Wizards)
- Amir Johnson (Toronto Raptors)
- Sean Singletary (Philadelphia 76ers)
- Will Blalock (New Jersey Nets)
- Jared Reiner (Minnesota Timberwolves)
- Keith Brumbaugh (Denver Nuggets)
- Stephen Graham (Charlotte Bobcats)
- Alexis Ajinca (Charlotte Bobcats)
The Heat are trying to foster a closer relationship with the Skyforce, similar to that between the San Antonio Spurs and Austin Toros, in order to maximize their talent pool and give players a shot in the NBA. Heat fans can recognize a few players currently on the Skyforce roster that were a part of the 2007 season: Kasib Powell and Bobby Jones.
It will be interesting to see what kind of talent emerges from the Skyforce this season. Don't be surprised if the Heat give a few fellow members a chance to make the team. After all, Miami only has 13 players on their current roster with the league maximum at 15.
