With just minutes remaining before the end of the 4pm trading deadline, the Florida Marlins added a much needed bat to the batting order.Marlins aquired First Baseman Nick Johnson from the Washington Nationals for pitching prospect Aaron Thompson.
The best part of this trade is that all of our dreams have now come true. We waited all season for this and can finally say it: Emilio Bonifacio is finally out of our line up!
Jorge Cantu will slide back over to third base where he played last year. Bonifacio won't be going going too far. He will be used as a utility player, where he can play infield and outfield.
Fredi Gonzalez has already mentioned that Nick Johnson will bat in front of All-Star Hanley Ramirez. With that said, Nick Johnson is one of the most patient hitters in the league. He has drawn 63 walks this year, 6th best in the National League.
