If you didn't hear about it in the local news, the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee hosted a casting call for volunteers that wanted to appear on their Super Bowl and Pro Bowl commercial. The event was only opened to people who are registered as volunteers for the Host Committee and drew over 100 interested individuals to Land Shark Stadium.
The casting call gained plenty of media coverage, including NBC 6 Miami, CBS 4 Miami, Sun-Sentinel and South Florida Live. Here's the story that NBC 6 aired on their 7 o'clock hour on Monday night:
Those who showed up to audition were taken upstairs to the club level and guided through a series of checkpoints - from taking headshots, to checking in and performing in front of a panel. Emotions ranged from sheer excitement to utter nervousness. Once they stepped up to the panel the spotlight was on them and they gave it a shot at being a part of this year's historic Super Bowl and Pro Bowl.
The Host Committee compiled a video of the process and some of the out-takes from the auditions. Let's just say that it resembled closely what is seen at the beginning of the American Idol season. Take a look for yourself:
With the hype and media coverage generated from the event, the Host Committee was able to drive home the message once again that Super Bowl XLIV will be coming to South Florida this season, along with Pro Bowl 2010. These two events will make history as it will be the first time that any host city receives a Super Bowl for a 10th time and it will be the first time in 35 years that the Pro Bowl comes back to South Florida. As the Host Committee says, "Two primetime games in one beautiful location - South Florida. It doesn't get any better than this."
We couldn't agree any more.
